I have moved my head unit (CDX-GT29) from one car to another, and the thing works but the display is fully displayed. ie it will not change anything on the display?
I think I'd try removing the front panel and cleaning the terminals with a cotton swab first of all.
If this doesn't work, many of these stereos have a reset button on the main unit underneath the front panel - if you have one then that could also be worth a try.
